The American technology company GoPro has just announced the release date for one of its most anxiously awaited products, the 360-degree virtual reality capture Omni. The six GoPro camera rig was first declared in early 2016, and now GoPro has finally revealed more specifics about its productivity and retail price. The camera rig was designed to carry six GoPro HD Hero 4 Black cameras, that were made for capturing all around 360-degree footage. Specifically for virtual reality (VR) or on-screen playback, in fact the company has already began shipping pre-ordered units as of August 17th.
The Omni is priced at $5,000 for the full package, which includes six Hero 4 Black cameras, the cube-shaped metal housing, and all the hardware/software that is essential to film and stitch the 360-degree footage. A prorated version is also available for as little as $1500. Though, it does not include cameras like the full package.
